BNM Issues Guidance Documents on AML/CFT Obligations

Guidance is provided for financial institutions, DNFBPs and NBFIs on AML/CFT and targeted financial sanctions, customer due diligence and beneficial ownership.

BNM (Bank Negara Malaysia) has issued FAQs and additional guidance to provide further clarification on the obligations of financial institutions, DNFBPs (designated non-financial businesses and professions) and NBFIs (non-bank financial institutions.

The guidance follows the issuance of two revised policy documents on AML, CFT and targeted financial sanctions in December 2019, both of which came into force from 1 January 2020.
