The Westin Singapore

11:30am - 1:30pm

*Lunch & Refreshments provided*

Overview

As cryptocurrency adoption continues to accelerate worldwide, the rate and magnitude of crypto-related crime has also increased. From frauds and nation state hacks to ransomware attacks and tax evasion, we continue to see bad actors using new techniques to commit illicit activity and evade detection.

Yet, global collaboration between regulators, law enforcement agencies, and industry participants has shown that tracing, prosecutions and recovery of criminal proceeds are not only possible, but have a high chance of success with the right frameworks, expertise, infrastructure and tools in place.

At this in-person luncheon seminar, we discuss the latest trends and typologies in crypto crime, and how the industry is working to combat illegal activity threatening crypto markets.

Topics in focus

  • Chain hopping, as crypto crime moves from the Bitcoin era to a multi-chain world
  • VASP due diligence and monitoring best practices
  • Nested "parasite" entities and unregistered exchanges
  • Crypto mixers, new sanctions precedents and industry implications
  • Opportunities and risks when engaging with DeFi
