Moody’s Analytics Awarded Data Provider of the Year

Singapore/Hong Kong, 9 December 2021 – Moody’s Analytics was awarded Data Provider of the Year in the 4th Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence 2021 at an online ceremony on 9 December 2021.

Moody’s Analytics was recognised for its extensive data and analytical tools, which help business leaders make better and faster decisions, and meet regulatory requirements. The Moody’s Analytics data ecosystem includes economic data, consumer and commercial credit data, publicly rated credit data, public and private firm credit and financial data, commercial real estate data, financial data, entity data, ESG data and more.

Moody’s Analytics operates one of the largest credit data consortia in the world, Data Alliance, which offers access to over 120 million financial statements of commercial and industrial private firms, commercial real estate loans from over 360 metropolitan statistical areas, more than 69 percent of all project finance loans originated since 1983, and asset finance and agriculture data. Data Alliance is used to derive data products for credit risk modelling, stress testing, loan origination models, and tools for visualising and benchmarking, among other use cases.

The Moody’s Analytics data offering is further bolstered by CreditEdge, a platform that helps measure credit risk for over 40,000 public entities globally by combining financial statement and market information, backed by a database of more than 11,700 defaults over 50 years. Meanwhile, the Moody’s Analytics Structured Finance Portal – used by over 200 global financial institutions – provides comprehensive data on all types of securitisation deals, including key metrics, monitoring, cash flow analytics, and regulatory modules.

In addition, Moody’s Analytics provides information on over 400 million entities from around the world through Orbis, which captures data from regulatory and other sources, treats the data, performs quality checks, and provides visualisation and integration. Orbis provides standardised financials and ratios, data on corporate ownership structures derived from 1.2 billion ownership links, and reference data including identifiers, entity names past and present, and other information. The Orbis database contains comprehensive information on financial institutions, marine vessels, sole proprietorships, and almost 350 million of the key people of these organisations.

“Criss-crossing across all of the Moody’s Analytics data products are the climate risk and ESG themes, which is becoming increasingly important for investment decisions, bank lending and insurance underwriting,” said a judge on the awards panel. “From KYC checks and customer due diligence to third party risk, credit risk and even climate risk management – the use cases for the data offering seem boundless, not to mention the analytics capabilities that come with each data solution. A clear winner for Data Provider of the Year.”
