Singapore/Hong Kong, 22 November 2022 – S&P Global Market Intelligence was awarded Best Solution – Initial Margin Compliance in the 5th Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence 2022 at an in-person ceremony on 22 November 2022.
S&P Global Market Intelligence was recognised for an end-to-end workflow SaaS tool that enables regulatory compliance with the Unclear Margin Rules, or UMR, which was introduced in 2016 and reached its sixth and final phase of implementation on 1 September 2022. The final phase brought into scope more firms than in any of the previous phases, introducing different operational and technological challenges given their relatively smaller size and lower appetite for set-up costs.
S&P Global Market Intelligence addressed these challenges through a SaaS tool that delivers a complete margin ecosystem – helping in-scope firms to accurately perform margin calculations to quantify the impact of proposed trades, set their IM for completed trades, and manage the margin exchange workflow. It automates margin call processing, manages exceptions, ensures transparency for audit purposes, and supports model validation, back-testing, collateral selection and optimisation, portfolio reconciliation, and more.
“S&P Global’s deep functionality, embedded connectivity to data sources, and flexibility of implementation are some of the features that stand out,” said one judge on the Regulation Asia awards panel. “The solution’s pre trade analytics capabilities are also significant, particularly for Phase 6 firms, as it allows them to incorporate margin impacts in their decision-making and ultimately conserve capital.”
The solution performs calculations based on either the ISDA SIMM and Schedule models, with full sensitivity and cross-asset coverage of interest rates, equities, FX, credit, commodities, cryptocurrencies, as well as an increasing number of exotic derivatives.
