Singapore/Hong Kong, 15 December 2020 – StarCompliance was Highly Commended in the hotly-contested category for Culture and Conduct Risk Management in the 3rd Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence 2020 in an online ceremony on 15 December 2020.
Culture and conduct risk have come into stark focus in Asia Pacific in recent years, prompting financial institutions to seek out solutions to help them mitigate the risks associated with employee behaviour. The need to monitor employee activities has only become more important amid the Covid-19 pandemic, as firms are less able supervise individual staff members working remotely.
StarCompliance provides software that automates the detection of employee conflicts of interest through monitoring of personal account dealing, gifts-and-entertainment spending, outside business activities, political donations and private investments. The STAR platform is also used to monitor and manage inside information, wall crossing approvals, restricted lists management, and to flag potential insider trading cases for investigation.
The platform boasts over 500,000 end users across 83 countries, including some of the world’s largest banks, stock exchanges, investment managers, and insurers. With a fully configurable rules engine, the STAR platform ensures firms are continually managing employee conduct in line with regulatory requirements. In addition, the solution’s Compliance Dashboards provide supervisors real-time data and insights into employee activity so they can identify and react to red flags more quickly.
“Given the increased focus on financial sector misconduct in recent years, there is an increasing need for firms to be able to monitor employee activities and guard against risks,” said one judge on the awards panel. “StarCompliance has demonstrated deep domain expertise and provides compliance officers the tools they need to ensure they can manage risk effectively and with confidence.”
In early 2020, StarCompliance formally expanded its presence in the Asia Pacific region with a new office in Hong Kong and dedicated support staff to assist regional clients. In 2021, a continued focus will be the further development of the STAR Platform’s data and analytics capabilities.
