The market maker programme will ensure smooth execution of transactions and improve liquidity in the electricity futures market. TOCOM (Tokyo Commodity Exchange) has established a market maker programme for electricity futures contracts. Electricity futures were launched by TOCOM last September. The exchange says the market maker programme will ensure the smooth execution of transactions and improve liquidity in the TOCOM electricity futures market by securing trading opportunities for investors through continuous quoting. TOCOM is seeking designated primary market makers to continuously quote bids and offers for the East Area Baseload Electricity Futures and East Area Peakload Electricity Futures contracts. Prospective market makers are required to submit their applications for consideration and designation as market makers for the programme, set for launch in October 2020. More details on the market maker programme are available here.
