HONG KONG, 5 November 2026 – OCBC has won three awards at the ninth annual Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence, presented at The St. Regis Hong Kong, and received a fourth recognition as Highly Commended.
OCBC was named Innovation Centre of the Year for a compliance innovation programme it has sustained for seven years, and the programme delivered multiple Data Analytics initiatives that provided controls in the financial crime domain such as customer due diligence, adverse news screening, and the recently announced HELIOS (Holistic wEalth Lifecycle Insights & Ongoing Surveillance) initiative, an agentic platform that aims to address the entire Wealth Lifecycle. An independent Validation Agent also provides assurance over the artificial intelligence (AI) it uses.
HELIOS also won Best KYC & Onboarding Solution, In-house. By bringing source-of-wealth research forward to the prospecting stage, it has cut private banking prospect research from a month to under a day and enabled earlier identification of higher-risk prospective customers.
The same platform was Highly Commended for Regulatory Innovation Project of the Year, for bringing prospecting intelligence, onboarding due diligence, source-of-wealth checks and dynamic trigger monitoring into one operating model.
OCBC also won Financial Crime Awareness & Capability Building (In-House), showing rare evidence of the impact of compliance training on changing behaviour. Participants' self-assessed knowledge rose from 65% to 87% after its partner workshops, and the bank reported a year-on-year improvement in source-of-wealth assessment quality.
“OCBC tied its source-of-wealth training to measured change, testing participants' knowledge before and after the programme. Few entries in this category showed evidence beyond attendance; OCBC did,” said the Regulation Asia Awards Committee.
The three awards were assessed by the Awards Committee, and the Highly Commended recognition by the independent judging panel. Each entry was judged on its own merits against published, award-specific criteria.
“OCBC's journey went beyond the pilot stage, transforming promising ideas into real-world outcomes. Over the years, it continuously evolved its compliance capabilities, proving that lasting transformation is not about launching great ideas, but about sustaining them and measuring the impact they create,” said Bradley Maclean, Chair of the Awards Committee, Regulation Asia.
About the Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence
Now in their ninth year, the Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence recognise achievements advancing regulatory practice across Asia-Pacific.
The judging process involves an independent panel of senior industry practitioners and the Awards Committee. Entries are assessed against published, award-specific criteria covering Asia-Pacific relevance and material developments in the twelve months to 30 June 2026. Awards are granted against a defined standard rather than relative to other entries.
Judging decisions are independent of editorial and commercial operations. There is no entry, shortlisting or winner fee, and commercial relationships do not influence results.
